If this is a gift for someone else, discretion is very important. I will set up a password protected web page for you where I will place updates to the portrait, and where I will put any correspondence so that there can be a running log of our conversations, so as to minimize any discrepancies and/or misunderstandings. I however, will only send the final portrait to YOU. It will be your responsibility to get it to the receiver.
I will ship the product via the most secure and trusted source, depending on where the portrait is going worldwide. It will be sandwiched, wrapped, and visually labelled to minimize any damages. It will also be insured for loss and/or damage. I will inform you of the cost, and will expect it to be paid before your portrait is shipped. If there are any damages, you need to contact me within 48 hours of receiving it along with photos for insurance purposes. These charges will NOT be refunded if you decide to return your portrait.
Typical completion dates are 3-6 weeks, but that varies as to how many commissions I have going. I will let you know how long the wait will be when you place your order. I will also update completion dates on your personal page. Please understand that I cannot guarantee completion times, therefore if this is a present or time sensitive gift, please allow enough time in advance for any unforseen circumstances.
100% satisfaction is guaranteed! I will refund your money if you are not satisfied with your pet's portrait! I require that the portrait be postmarked back to me within 7 days of receipt, and I will refund your monies when I receive the portrait back. Please note that no shipping or change charges will be refunded.
Because of unforseen circumstances, I cannot guarantee completion times.
I accept Money Orders as well as PayPal. I will provide your details when you have approved the contract. I will email you as to any issues I encounter in the development of your portrait. A photo of your finished portrait will be posted for your final approval, and when you are satisfied the remaining 75% plus postage costs is due. 100% satisfaction is guaranteed! I will refund your money if you are not satisfied with your pet's portrait!
Because framing is so personal, along with the fact that it is more difficult to ship, I leave that step to you. Please check my links page for certified framers that may be near you.
Your pet portrait will be added to my website in the online gallery, however if your portrait is a present and surprise is essential, a personal web page will be created just for you and will not be included in my gallery until you inform me that they have received it!
Pet portraits can be commissioned in Graphite, Coloured Pencil, or Pastel.
Yes, that's fine. I can do group portraits of your animal family. A 24" x 36" portrait is a suitable size for a group portrait of up to 4 medium/large size dogs. Horses are a different matter. If you have a very large group, please contact me for a personal quote.
Portraits are not normally supplied with a background, but I can add one if you would like. This can be your garden, or your pets favorite walking or resting place. Please ensure the background reference photographs are clear. There is an extra charge for a background. Details are on the pricing page.
Yes, it is often necessary to combine photographs. The more photographs you can send the better. I can use several different photographs of different pets to do a group portrait, or you may want a portrait of your pet in a particular pose, but the photograph isn't very clear. In this situation you should send multiple photos, for the pose you want and clear photos of your pet's colors and markings. It is helpful to put notes on the photographs explaining which are your favorites and why.
The larger the better. The smallest I usually accept is 5" x 7". If you are sending digital images, please send them as .jpg or .tif files.
My pet has passed away and I'm not sure if the photograph is a good enough reference shot, can you help?
If you are unsure if your photograph is suitable, please email a copy and I can have a look and let you know. Please note that I take a lot of pride in my work, and you need to be 100% satisfied with the final portrait, therefore I reserve the right to refuse to do a portrait based on the condition/lack of detail in the reference material.
Changes are inevitable, and allowable...to a point. I will post sketches of what your portrait will look like with your requests, and you can request changes at that time. Changes will not be allowable after the sketches are approved without a monetary charge. Charges due to changes in work are non-refundable.
